Prenatal Groups & Fitness

HPOP (Healthy Pregnancy Outreach Program)

I started attending HPOP postpartum, but wish that I had gone through my entire pregnancy. Open to pregnant mommas as well as those with babes up to 6 months, this group meets weekly on Wednesdays at noon for lunch (free! food! my two favourite things!), followed by a speaker on a related topic. The facilitators Colleen and Gurdeva are amazing.  Not only are they great to just chat with, but they’ll help you with your babe if you want to take lunch without a little one suctioned to you.  They are also running a weekly cooking club (again free!) where you go away with dinner for the night!  HPOP often connects with other community resources: donations of prenatal vitamins, coupons for the Farmer’s Market, food and other goodies from Helping Hands etc. All wonderful goodies for tired mommas and mommas to be! Be sure to also check out our “ode to HPOP” blog post!

This Isn’t What I Expected

This is a community service for educating and supporting moms struggling with postpartum adjustment and depression. If you are not feeling as good as you thought you would as a new or expectant parent (I struggled prenatally), drop in Tuesdays from noon to 1 pm, locations rotate weekly. For more information call 604 892 2293. Facilitated by Kimberly Daniels (HCHD Dona Trained Doula) and Rita Murphy (M. Ed. RCC, Registered Clinical Counsellor).
